PSYCHOLOGY/AFFECTIVE DISORDERS

Over the past 12 years, our research team has conducted funded studies directed toward improving the predictive validity of the MMPI-2 by updating the behavioral and clinical correlates of the instrument. We are in the final stages of summarizing updated empirically derived clinical descriptors for MMPI-2 scales and code types in psychiatric inpatient settings. Further, we are validating the newly developed MMPI-2 restructured clinical (RC) scales for use with psychiatric inpatients and in the assessment of PTSD. Finally, we will be examining the incremental predictive contribution of the MMPI-2 RC scales over the existing clinical and content scales.

In a second series of MMPI-2 studies, we are comparing the predictive validity of a computer adaptively administered version of the MMPI-2 in veterans who are receiving out patient psychiatric treatment and veterans who are receiving out patient medical care with the standard computer administered version of the MMPI-2.
